UWS Student Activities Fee
In late 2005 the Federal Government adopted new legislation that changed the way in which student organisations can be funded at Australian universities. Prior to this change universities levied a compulsory fee on all students to fund these organisations and in particular the range of services they provide.
The effect of the Government’s legislation is that universities will have to phase out the compulsory Student Activities Fee (SAF) which support the provision of these services.
The new laws take effect from 1 July 2006 and apply to those students who are new enrolments from that date. This change means international students commencing in a program of study at UWS from semester 2 2006 are not required to pay the fee.
All of the applicants, accepting an offer of admission to UWS from Semester 2, 2006 that this fee, included in the official offer letter, should not be paid as part of the initial payment.
All offer letters issued to date have included reference to the AUD＄182 payable. This amount is no longer due.
Applicants who have already paid the fee, or inadvertently pay, will be credited against the following semester fees.
